The program

The Business Accelerator Program Indonesia began in 2015, as an initiative from the Swedish Energy Agency to increase business involvement under our cooperation in and with Indonesia.

Supporting innovative companies during a two-year period, BAPI provides the participants with a roadmap on how to prepare for the Indonesian market as well as tailored activities and access to relevant network and insights.

Since the start, more than 20 companies have taken part in the program.

Cooperation agreements

The Swedish Energy Agency and the Secretariat General of the National Energy Council of Indonesia (NEC) signed a cooperation agreement in 2013. “The Indonesian Swedish Initiative for Sustainable Energy Solutions”, Insists.

The Insists cooperation led to some research based projects, e.g. between the Swedish Research Institute Rise (then SP) and University of Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta. Another larger project was performed by the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) on bioenergy. Several delegations of Indonesian decision makers from the NEC and other public officials also visited Sweden, taking part in educational seminars, study visits and discussions of deepening the cooperation.

The Insists cooperation was taken to a higher level when a Memorandum of Understanding between the Swedish and Indonesian Governments was signed by our respective Ministers for Energy in February 2017.

About the Swedish Energy Agency

The Swedish Energy Agency is leading society’s transition to a sustainable energy system.

We contribute with facts, knowledge, and analysis of supply and use of energy in the society, as well as work towards security of energy supply.

Research on new and renewable energy technologies, smart grids, as well as vehicles and transport fuels of the future receives funding from us.

We also support business development that allows commercialisation of energy related innovations, and ensure that promising cleantech solutions can be exported.

Official energy statistics, and the management of instruments such as the Electricity Certificate System and the EU Emission Trading System, are our responsibility.

Furthermore, we participate in international collaboration with the aim of attaining Swedish energy and climate objectives, and develop and disseminate knowledge for a more efficient energy use to households, industry, and the public sector.

The Swedish Energy Agency is subordinate to the Ministry of Infrastructure, and regulated by the Government through the instruction and annual appropriations directives. Parliament and the Government decide on the assignments and budget of the Agency.
